The city of San Francisco is located on the coast of California, approximately 400 miles north of Los Angeles, and forms part of the San Francisco Bay Area, with a population of approximately 7.2 million people. San Francisco is on the San Francisco Peninsula and is limited to the west by the Pacific Ocean, to the east by the San Francisco Bay and to the north by the Golden Gate.

The city is popular among tourists, due to its steep hills, its beautiful architecture and a diverse population, a comfortable climate and its important landmarks, such as the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island, the cable cars, Coit Tower and Chinatown.
